Richard died peacefully in this sleep at his home South of Indianola, Iowa following a prolonged illness. He is survived by his wife Jean of the home; sons Richard Collins (Cindy) of Osceola Iowa, and Daniel Collins (Loretta) of Indianola, Iowa; and daughter Lana Dale (Jack) of Wheeling, Missouri; Daughter in Law Diana Collins (Lonnie deceased) of Phoenix, Arizona; Nine grandchildren; Thirteen grandchildren; and a brother Floyd Collins of Leon, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Richard attended school in Lineville, Iowa. Richard was married to Francis Richman Collins for two months short of 50 years, and she passed away. He then was married to Ona Jean Head Collins for 20 years. Richard spent his career in the automotive industry. Over his career he worked as a mechanic, body and fender, tool inventor, and owned and managed his own trucking company.
He will be remembered as a hardworking man who assisted his children with their many projects. He loved his children and grandchildren very much. He loved his Lord and as his dear friend and brother in law Wayne Baker said, “He was not perfect but he was forgiven.”
