Shirley Jean Cyriacks (Pickering) died Friday, 17 January, 2020 peacefully after a short stay in the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. She was 91 years old. She was a thoughtful and loving mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Shirley (Pickering) Cyriacks was born on 22 May, 1928 to Bert and Alma Pickering. Shirley was raised on a farm outside Lake Benton, Minnesota. She was the youngest of nine children. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake Benton. She was active in the church choir for many years.
Shirley married Walter Blayne Cyriacks on June 29, 1947 in Lincoln County, Minnesota. They had two sons: Steven Cyriacks and Mark Allan Cyriacks (1953-1974). Walter and Shirley farmed in Lake Benton area, and loved to dance, travel and golf. Shirley moved into Lake Benton after Walter passed away in 1985.
Her younger son Mark preceded her death on May 15, 1974 at the age of 21. Walter preceded her death on September 17, 1985 in at the age of 61 years. Shirley was preceded in death by her brothers, Clive, Moyne, Cliff, Lyle, and Darwin (Dean); sisters, Lilas, Charmine and Betty.
Shirley is lovingly remembered by her son, Steven Cyriacks, daughter-in-law Marinela Cyriacks, her granddaughter Michelle Scheid and husband Tom Scheid and their two children, Isabella and Alexandra, and her grandson Gregory Cyriacks.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held at Lake Benton Funeral Chapel in July 2020.
